Lab-Grown Hand is a project by new media artist, Amy Karle. She’s done a bunch of work mixing anatomy and technology. And her next endeavor is an attempt at growing a skeletal human hand.
The main ingredients for which are a bioreactor and some human stem cells. The first step was designing and 3d printing a biodegradable mold. That the hand bones would eventually grow into. This mold has the same shape and sponge-like pattern human bones have. She then flooded the mold with human stem cells. The process takes two years to finish.
