The Seal Whisperers and the Seals Who Love Them

For the past 40 years, Kathy Streeter has been a seal and sea lion trainer. During that time, she has learned that seals are as intelligent as dolphins, if not more so. Because of this, Streeter tries to enrich their lives with as many activities as she can throughout the day. This entails training sessions with food in which the animals learn specific behaviors, but it also includes play sessions where the animals dictate the rules of the game. Wild Dolphin “Asks” Divers to Help Free Itself from Hook

Dolphins may be one of the planet’s smartest creatures, but one thing they lack are opposable thumbs. However, they are clever enough to recognize that, in a pinch, they can approach humans to get help with those hard to reach spots. The Wee Welsh Town of Weird Sports

Llanwrtyd Wells (good luck trying to pronounce that if you don’t speak Welsh) has the distinction of being the smallest town in the United Kingdom. Several times each year, this wee Welsh town welcomes competitors for an unusual series of events, including bog snorkelling, man versus horse, and the mountain bike chariot race. When the town’s pony trekking industry started drying up in the 1970s, locals devised a plan to keep the local economy going. And what better way to do so than by strapping a wheelbarrow to two bikes while dressed like a Roman? If you like this video, like us on facebook and twitter.

This Two-Toed Sloth Is an Excellent Swimmer

Sloths, the slowest of all mammals, spend almost their entire lives upside down. Because of that, their fur grows in the opposite direction of all other mammals, allowing water to run off them when it rains. Surprisingly, they are also excellent swimmers. But despite these adaptations, sloths face numerous threats. Their forest homes are becoming fragmented and they are a popular target for traffickers in the illegal pet trade. Is Pet Food Safe for Humans to Eat?

Nearly 80 million American households have a pet, with a majority being a cat or dog. Additionally, 42% of homes have more than one pet. A lot of food is needed to feed all of these animals, so it should come as no surprise that pet food is a 21 billion dollar industry. While this food is specially made for our four-legged pals, the question many have (including this researcher) is- in a post-apocalyptic world where human food was scarce, could I eat my cat’s wet food? Would I get sick from eating my dog’s milk bones? If you like this video, like us on facebook and twitter.
