Ropes, Rhythm and Life: Inside Competitive Double Dutch

Khnaue Robinson, a senior in high school, has been competing in double dutch since she was 12 years old. She practices with her school’s team three times each week, and says being part of the team has given her a home—something she didn’t have before joining up. For Robinson and her teammates, all of that practice and hard work has paid off: the team has 19 world championship titles and is working toward number 20.

How to Eat Like a Hindu God

The Ganesha Temple in Queens, New York, has been a cultural hub for Hindus in the United States since the 1970s. But this temple isn’t just dedicated to religious practice. The canteen in the temple’s basement is a bonafide restaurant, serving up more than 100 traditional vegetarian Indian dishes. What started as a kitchen to prepare food offerings to the gods has become a place for Hindus and non-Hindus alike to chow down on some of the most authentic South Indian food in New York City.
